1983 Alvarez-Yairi DY-45 Dreadnought Guitar
This old DY-45 (Japan-made) was in for some setup work a bit ago so I snagged some photos because it has neat features -- a "volute" on the back of the headstock, for one. Someone had tweaked it a bit at the bridge in the past (minor shave) and it could really use a light level/dress of the frets, but a thorough setup got it going for its owner.
Soundwise, it's very much a D-18-style voice, though with a more even response across the strings and less mellow in the middle. It's solid spruce (x-braced) over ply mahogany back and sides, has a mahogany neck, and rosewood board and bridge. The neck cut is very much a '60s-style Martin medium-soft-C/V feel.
