2000s Jay Turser JT-RES Resonator Electric Guitar

This is basically an unused instrument. It looks like it was played a little bit and then just stashed for a decade or more -- hence the finish blem/tarnish to all the gold plating on the coverplate and "screen" soundhole mesh. When it arrived it was playing and sounding horribly but all it took was a fresh saddle, some adjustments to the truss rod, and a bit of adjustment to the undersaddle element.

For what it's worth, the sound from the neck pickup (magnetic) is just fine -- clean and warm and nice with a bit of drive. I have its overall height set really low so it balances volume-wise better with the piezo bridge pickup (the "acoustic" pickup), but it (frankly) sounds better with it jacked a little farther up and closer to the strings so it's hotter and more aggressive.

The piezo (acoustic) pickup sounds middling and has weak output as you'd expect for a passive undersaddle element. This instrument would be vastly improved by yanking that original pickup out and swapping it for a K&K pickup or similar, though it would cost more, and would be best-served by two independent jacks (for piezo and magnetic) controls instead of a blend control (which does funny tone-sucking in part of its range because of the mismatched pickup types).

I think by blending (with the original controls) the pickups on this, one can get a pretty decent voice, however, though I wouldn't consider it an "authentic" acoustic resonator sound at all even if it is useful, so that makes the "resonator" qualities of this instrument more window-dressing as-is. This has a Dobro cone and "acoustically" it sounds like a very quiet Dobro.

Anyhow, it's playing spot-on, now, and is ready to go.

Repairs included: new saddle, a bit of wiring repair, and setup.
