2021 Eastwood Model S Electric Tenor Guitar

Eastwood has made a ton of different tenor and plectrum electric guitar models but this is their first Strat-style tenor guitar. Like the others, it has a wider neck and string spacing feel than, say, a traditional acoustic tenor guitar or tenor banjo. Because of that it's suited to a variety of tunings -- some low, some high. Currently this one is strung-up for GDAE octave mandolin tuning which is about as popular as it gets for tenor instruments these days. It can, of course, be restrung, the intonation adjusted, and tuned to whatever tuning you like.

It's well-built with an alder body and Fender-style maple/rosewood neck. Fit, finish, and build are all good. It plays well and has a good, classic sound with perhaps a hair more output than a traditional Strat-style guitar.

My argument with most Eastwood products in the mandolin/tenor/plectrum range is that they don't usually use pickups with adjustable poles and that's something to know if you're planning to own one because it takes a little tweaking to get the sound the way you might want it right off the bat depending on the stringing and tuning you'll be using.

Non-adjustable poles makes it harder to get string to string balance correct. For example, the consignor of this has the A an unwound string and because of that gauge and pitch, it will be "louder" through the pickups than the D and E on either side of it. It's just the way pickups work. If there were adjustable poles on these pickups, however, one could crank down the pole under the A and/or raise the ones on either side of it to adjust string to string output to taste. So, the solution for better balance in this case would be to move that unwound A (high output string) to a wound A (low output string, due to construction) and that would balance the pickup's overall output better -- though it would change the slinky feel of the A string.

Anyhow, that minor nitpicking aside, there's much to like about the practicality and build of this guitar, especially after a quick setup.
