1940s Kay (Unmarked) Archtop Guitar

This is a family guitar for my guy Ancel as it's been the "camp guitar" since it was found/left behind at a family camp many, many moons ago. While unmarked, it's clearly an old Kay and it has all the features of one made in the early '40s -- the odd pickguard, fancy tailpiece, quirky bridge, and the usual extra-long (25 7/8") scale length.

What's unusual about it are the solid back and sides (maple -- the top is solid spruce) and the '50s truss rod cover someone added to the headstock. The neck is a hefty, full-C shape

Ancel put a bunch of work into it to get it playing spot-on, including a neck reset, bridge modification (its topper was too small and had far too shallow a radius on the saddle bit), board plane and refret with jumbo stock, and setup-side stuff.

I love how well-worn and friendly it looks.
