1967 Martin D-18 Dreadnought Guitar
Here's a pretty old D-18 that was in for some work. It got a neck reset, new bone saddle, replacement bridge, fret level/dress, and minor adjustment work. I also added a very thin bridge plate cap as the top was somewhat more distorted than I liked in that area. It appears the factory just cut it a little thinner than average for the era.
The original bridge had been shaved down just a hair and I initially reglued and reused it but upon stringing the guitar up the front wall of it leaned-forward as there was a hidden hairline crack along the saddle. Oh no! Luckily, I had a decent-looking replacement that matched fairly well with the fretboard look.
The owner of this guitar had played the heck out of it and the fretboard itself was almost black with playing-grime. It was kind-of funny -- now that it's out of the spa I can imagine the instrument saying, "ahhhh, that feels nice."
Anyhow, it plays spot-on, has a ton of volume and presence, and a good, round sound to it.
