2023 Ancel Coburn "Big Dripper" 000-Size Guitar

My guy Ancel has been off the past two weeks building this -- his first guitar -- with a fellow who teaches building up here in Vermont. It turned-out gorgeous, no?

It's roughly 000-sized, has a mahogany neck with grenadillo fretboard and bridge, fancy spruce top, and extra-flamed-maple back and sides. He kept the details low-key and initially the guitar had no face dots or inlay at the headstock, but he added those here while he was working on its final setup.

It sounds excellent, too. The top is double-x-braced (a favorite pattern for me, too, and similar to a '70s Gibson bracing but lighter in execution) per the teacher's tastes and the back has nice, solidly-cut, sculpted rectangular braces. The neck is even bolted-on with a tongue and extra stiffened region added for the fretboard extension so neck removal and adjustment is easy-peasy. I approve of all of it!

He cut the neck into a modern, semi-V, semi-C shape and it handles nicely. Good job, my man!

Nice! Looks awesome (especially love the black headstock with inlays and rounded corners!)
