1934 Kalamazoo (Gibson) KTG-31 Archtop Tenor Guitar

With these cool old Gibson-made Kalamazoo archtops, you can tell whether it's a "first or second year" model or after simply by the hardware. This one has fancier "Gibson-style" mounts for the tailpiece and pickguard rather than the cheaper, simpler styles found on most of the Kalamazoo production later-on. It also has the "small sunburst" finish.

It's original throughout except for the tuners (recent Grovers) and has light pickwear and usewear here and there. Its owner brought it in to get checked-out and it needed a level/dress of the frets and a setup to get it playing well. It could use a neck reset to be its best self, but it sounds woody, warm, and full at the moment and plays on-the-dot, so I think that we've won for the moment.

The top is solid spruce (press-arched over bracing) while the back and sides are solid mahogany. It has a rosewood fretboard and bridge and a mahogany neck.
