2000 Gibson J-45 Rosewood Slope Dreadnought Guitar

This one was just in for some minor work but there are so few of these older J-45 rosewood models around that I figured it'd be nice to share. Unlike the recent J-45s with rosewood back/sides, this one has ebony in the fretboard and bridge and it gives it a bit more of a "Martin" vibe.

The neck and handling are all typical newer Gibson -- rugged and comfy -- and the sound is that same, familiar, woody Gibson thing but with a lot more warmth and mellow chunk to the low-end. The middle is scooped a little, too, so folks into chord-banging on D-28s will find something like this pretty comforting as well.

Someone else had done some nice and elegant cleating to the center seam on the top before me but this arrived with "bump" damage needing to be addressed -- a crack to the bass side of the soundhole, a couple loose braces, and some wiring needing tidying-up to keep it from rattling-around inside.

Is the scale length 24.75? Sounds really nice. Is it going to be for sale? Thanks!

Yep, it's got the 24 3/4" scale -- not gonna be for sale, just in for repairs for its owner. Real nice guitar, though!
