1960s Kay Electrified Rubber Bridge Guitar Conversion
Last time we were up in Burlington, Ancel and I were gifted a box of random guitars and parts from Ben & Bucky's. Thanks guys!
We decided to put together parts into something for each of us. I converted this old 1960s Kay parlor guitar that was down on its luck into a rubber bridge electrified box for Ancel while he did a great refret job on a Kay Vanguard electric for me.
Work included a level/dress of the frets, side dots, wiring work (simple on/off switch and output jack), pickup install (it's a Ben & Bucky's gift, too -- an old DiMarzio humbucker of some sort), surround for the bucker made from an old Strat HSS pickguard, and then the usual setup work.
The funniest bit about this guitar is that it's a "correct neck" for one of these parlors but not the original to this body as the bolt-holes didn't line up at all. I love it...
