1979 Yamaha FG-335 Lefty Jumbo Guitar

Old, plywood-throughout Yamahas from the '70s are the guitars I suggest for any aspiring guitarist. I say things along the lines of, "head out to Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist, grab one, bring it here for work, and then enjoy a guitar you will not have to fuss over for the next several decades."

They really are great workhorse instruments, are stable as heck, and have voices that are bigger, wider, and fuller than you would expect at their place in the market. This one isn't an early "Red Label" Yamaha of the Japanese-made variety, but it is a second-generation Taiwan instrument and, to my ears and hands, sounds and feels essentially the same as the Red Label models. I've worked on so many of these guitars that they truly start to blend!

Apologies, by the way, for the righty-playing-lefty terrible video.

Repairs included: a neck reset, fret level/dress, cleaning, and setup work.

Condition notes: it's actually in good order and all-original save the bridge pins, strings, and strap button at the endpin area. This had a funky pickup installed but I removed it and quickly filled the 1/2" hole at the endpin and then fit said strap button there instead. It's purely acoustic, now. There are some dings and scuffs and scratches throughout the body as you'd expect for an old guitar but it's overall in good shape and looks nice.

It comes with: sorry, no case.
