1900s Hendrik Jacobs Copy 4/4 Violin

Since Andy finished work on this last week, it's been a fan favorite of fiddlers who stop in the shop. It has a full, warm, clean voice that's both relaxed and old-timey and fit for double-stops and backup but also crisp and punchy enough to play quick and eager tunes that turn on a dime.

It bears a "Hendrik Jacobs" label (supposedly made in Amsterdam) but we all know it's more than likely a bogus one. This is probably German-factory-made from around the 1890s or 1900s. It has newer pegs, tailpiece, and chinrest but the ebony fingerboard and nut are original.

Repairs included: seam repairs, fingerboard leveling, new bridge, new tailpiece, new chinrest, new strings, cleaning, sound post fitting, and setup work.

Condition notes: structurally it's in very good shape. The neck angle is good, it has a tallish bridge, and its fittings are all nice-grade and practical. I think it may have had a refinish job done perhaps 70 or more years ago as it has an unusual, darkened-natural finish to it. It looks quite nice and has an elegant appearance. There are small scuffs and scratches here and there throughout the instrument.

It comes with: an old hard case.
