1964 Guild F-30 000-Size Guitar

A customer of ours brought this by in summer of '23, maybe? He had purchased it and was having a lot of fun with it but he's gravitated back towards the fancy Martins he's grown accustomed-to. I'm a longtime fan of Hoboken-made Guilds so I appreciate this F-30 right off the bat but I do understand that they're not for everyone. Compared to a similar-era Martin 000-18 (its nearest relative), this guitar is a little punchier in the mids (similar to a Gibson-style sound) but not as velvety on the highs and lows.

A player chucking chords in a group setting or playing lead and fill lines with buddies in an acoustic jam might prefer this to a 000-18 because of that whereas a player mostly playing only on their lonesome will probably favor the Martin palette.

That all said, this sounds tip-top and plays spot-on.

Repairs included: minor setup adjustments (this time). Previously, it's had a neck reset, fret level/dress, replacement bridge, hairline crack repairs (on the top, upper bout), cleaning, and setup work done -- some by us and some by other shops.

Weight: 3 lbs 13 oz

Scale length: 24 5/8"

Nut width: 1 11/16"

Neck shape: slim-medium C

Board radius: around 8"

Body width: 15 1/4"

Body depth: 4 1/8"

Top wood: solid spruce

Back & sides wood: solid mahogany

Bracing type: x

Bridge: rosewood

Fretboard: rosewood

Neck wood: mahogany

Action height at 12th fret:
3/32” bass 1/16” treble (fast, spot-on)
String gauges: 54w-12 lights

Truss rod: adjustable

Neck relief: straight

Fret style: medium

Condition notes: it has a few hairline crack repairs in the top (minor). The truss cover (perplexingly) reads "Oakey." The bridge is, apparently, a replacement in a similar cut to the original Guild bridge "from above" but with a very different profile. Overall it's pretty clean but does show average usewear -- mild scuffs, scrapes, and scratches and minor playwear here and there throughout. There's also some finish weather-check here and there throughout.

It comes with: a recent hard case.
