1994 Taylor XX-RS Grand Auditorium Guitar

This was one of Taylor's 20th Anniversary models for 1994 and, along with its mahogany counterpart, they were the first "Grand Auditorium" (small jumbo) guitars introduced into the Taylor lineup, as as I recall.

It's a deluxe guitar -- fancy pearl trim around the soundhole, turquoise-looking trim matched to the wood binding on every edge, an antique-looking flowerpot-ish/torch-ish inlay in the board around the neck joint that's similar to old Larson/et al guitars from the '20s, and choice wood throughout.

As you'd expect, it sounds excellent. It's more like a "balanced D-28" sound to my ears than, say, what you might be expecting from your standard-issue Taylor of similar specs these days. It's x-braced, of course, and lightly-so, and sounds like it. It's a more old-fashioned, Martin-like vibe -- a lot like the 0000/M-series  models of the '80s with rosewood back and sides. It's big and chocolatey and velvety but with a nice, clean, punchy set of mids and high-end response.

It's also relatively unused -- there may be the faintest bit of light scratching around the soundhole from pickwear and a light surface scratch here and there but it basically looks like a "very lightly shopworn" guitar -- as if it had been 6 months on display in a guitar store and played a few times. It's clean.

Repairs included: a very, very light level/dress of the frets and a quick setup.

Condition notes: it's very, very clean with low hours of use. There may be a small scratch or the most mild pickwear near the soundhole but it looks like a "shopworn" guitar rather than one taken home and played a lot. The owner is a fingerpicker, as I recall, so it wasn't smacked hard with a flatpick.
