1989 Martin MC-28 Cutaway Jumbo Guitar

This is a local customer's MC-28 and it was in for "the usual" for an '80s Martin -- binding reglue jobs all over, a neck reset, fret work, and adjustments. I do like these "jumbo" Martins and I especially like the look of the oval soundholes. It gives them a bit of that "Celtic" or "gypsy" flavor. It's a shame the oval hole wasn't used on the normal, non-cutaway M models.

For those not in the know, M referred to the period's 0000-size offerings -- basically a "small jumbo" shape. I see a good number of them that come out of the woodwork each year up here in Vermont, strangely-enough.

The neck on this one is quick and modern and it has a good, robust, full sound to it. It's sort-of dreadnought-ish and sort-of 000-ish in flavor. It has the mellow growl of a D-28 but with more clarity. I like.
