2023 Ancel Coburn Semihollow Through-Neck Electric Bass Guitar

This is Ancel's first scratchbuilt bass build. It's a little rough around the edges here and there and some of the finish has been "pre-worn" but it's a killer instrument. He tried-out a number of different ideas with this one and, as a result, it's a loving mixup of his favorite features (well, favorite features at the time he built it, anyway).

It's got a flamed-maple through-neck construction with a Danelectro-style body -- it has a masonite top and back over a body "frame" of mahogany. His body shape is based on a mix of other bass cuts but the long horns of the upper bout are definitely Rickenbacker references. The simple controls, pickguard shape, and pickup are, of course, Music Man-influenced.

All body edges are contoured nicely and it has a short scale. The neck has a pair of giant carbon fiber rods installed which keep it super-stable.
