2001 Martin 000C-16RB Babyface Signature Guitar

Tone: There's a bunch of sustain and note separation in that "grand piano" sort-of way you get out of better, 000-size, rosewood-backed Martins. It has good volume and punch when dug-into as well.

Feel: It reminds me a lot of the Martin Eric Clapton signature guitars in sound and feel. The feel is definitely "retro Martin" with a wider, 1 3/4" nut width and medium-heft, V-shaped neck profile. It's not quite as thick front to back as the Claptons but it's in that territory. I suppose it handles more like recent OM-revival-style guitars in the neck's cut.

Interesting features: There's a nice, pearl-inlaid rosette, "silky" grain in the spruce of the top, and herringbone trim along the top edge. The bridge is a modern-style Martin bridge and so user-friendly when it comes time to adjust the setup vs. fixed or through-saddle choices which would be more in keeping with the "vintage" vibe of the trim. I'm not sure where the 16 in the model number comes from because the guitar is very-much modeled after a Style 28 pattern.

Repairs included: Ancel did a level/dress of the frets and setup on it and it's playing bang-on and ready to serve.

Condition notes: While there may be small scratches or scuffs in the finish of the guitar, I'm not finding them easily. This appears to be pretty-much a case queen -- used sparingly and in good, clean shape. Its one obvious flaw is that it had a pickup installed at the endpin at one point and it's been removed, the oversize hole plugged, and a strap-button-style endpin fit in place of the original plastic one.
