1900s Maggini-Labeled German 4/4 Violin

This elegant, long-scrolled, generously-proportioned German-made violin has a bogus "Giovanni Paolo Maggini" label in its soundhole but it likely dates from around 1900 to 1910 or so. Andy did a lot of work to get it going and it has both a curious look and cut and also a curious but full sound.

Interesting details like doubled purfling set it apart and it has a very long pegbox and longish body, too. It's clearly a well-made instrument and was probably sold Stateside through a mailorder company trying to ape "old master" violins -- the fancier retailers of the age had a huge selection of such instruments in their catalogs. To my eye it looks like a "small shop" import violin as it has none of the generic-ness of the typical German imports from the time.
