1950s Premier Model 55 5w 1x8" Tube Amp Combo
This simple, great-looking little tube amp gives off serious Champ vibes. It also does "its own thing" very well. It's sort-of like a tweed Champ but with maybe a bit more sloppiness to the breakup -- it does that "radial airplane engine" sound when driven that I really enjoy -- a bit rawrrrrrr...
Anyhow, this is mostly original but has been serviced down in Boston. It's ready to go, has a 3-prong cable, and has been checked-on. Folks have been having a lot of fun since it arrived at the shop a few weeks ago because it plays nice and "retro clean" at low volume but will go fire-breathing when cranked. I should say -- fire breathing but not too loud, maybe? Suffice to say it would be easy to record with or stick a mic in front of for gigging.
These were made by Multivox and -- a word to the wise -- never pick these up by the original handles if they're still extant like this one is -- you will regret it (as the leather tends to degrade). The covering also shows mild wear and tear throughout as well.
When the amp was serviced, the owner had a speaker-out installed. This means that it can be run into a much larger cab, if desired, for a big volume and presence increase compared to the relatively simple 1x8" small box configuration this has.
