1958 Gibson GA-20T Ranger 15w 1x12" Tube Amp Combo
These Gibson GA-20s are cult-status amps, being very much in the realm of tweed Princeton and sort-of-Deluxe territory. To my ears, it's more aggressive and has a "hotter" sound to it -- like it wants to overdrive more easily and is even more "rootsy" sounding if that makes sense. It definitely pushes the mids a bit more than a Fender "tweed" sound, I think. It's hard to place -- it's very familiar to "tweed" lovers but at the same time more of a cousin than a sibling.
This one has the cool two-tone coloring, is missing its original logo, and is a bit worn throughout, but makes up for that in its having been fully-serviced and is stage-ready as it sits. The is the GA-20T variant and it has a tremolo circuit and footswitch built-in. Both work and sound nice.
It's hard to argue against this little beastie -- just listen to it in the demo! It does the thing very well. I'm switching between single coil and humbucking modes on the pickup in the video and you can, I think, get the sense that it will clean-up at lower volumes when you're pushing it less-hard on the input jack.
While the covering is fairly worn (I mean, the bottom covering is rough), the amp itself is in good order and it has an assortment of vintage tubes.
