2000s Garrison G40-E Acoustic/Electric Dreadnought Guitar
Garrison guitars were made in Canada from the very late '90s up to 2010. It was purchased by Gibson in 2007 and then, a few years later, closed. Why? Who knows. Corporate bean counters make all sorts of odd choices.
This is an all-solid guitar -- this looks like a spruce top over mahogany and so it's got a bit of that D-18 thing going on. The neck is quick and easy and has a comfortable, 10" radius to the board -- I like curvier boards!
It's the internal stuff on these that's interesting, however. They use a synthetic bracing pattern that is all linked together and so inherently very strong. It's lightweight, too, and fit in a traditional X-braced pattern on the top and ladder-braced pattern on the back. The neck is double-bolted to the body like earlier Taylors and Tacomas and, after you break adhesive of the glued fretboard extension, easy to reset and adjust neck angle as the guitar ages.
This guitar has basically been collateral for a project that Andy was working on for a customer and was going to be put up for sale after I worked on it (it got a reset, level and dress work, and whatnot) but Andy decided to keep it for his family, instead! This was a happy outcome, methinks, as it's a good, practical, easy-to-live-with instrument.
