2020s Faux-J-200 Jumbo Guitar

Overview: This Chinese-made guitar is a true faux-J-200 as it's even got the bogus branding in the soundhole and on the headstock (which I have covered). It's got the right dimensions and shapes and looks, at a glance, a lot like a proper one. When you get close, however, you notice that the sunburst is a little less crisp, the pickguard is printed, and the board inlay is pearloid. It sounds and handles great, however, and from my point of view this guitar's quality level is somewhere between an older '90s or '00s Epiphone J-200 and the newer Epiphone J-200s.

Tone: It's full and balanced-sounding and would make a great chord-banger. It's not overtone-dense and so it's easy to sing with.

Feel: The neck is slim and fast, with a modern, C-shaped profile.

Interesting features: It has an onboard preamp and undersaddle pickup so it's ready to jack-in. I'm pretty sure it has nitro finish as it smells of the stuff and the top has the look. Overall the guitar is well-appointed, clean, and looks pretty authentic. The maple on the back and sides isn't fancy but it does have light curl throughout.

Repairs included: We gave it a good setup and it's ready to go.
