2023 Fender American Vintage II Precision Bass Electric Bass Guitar

Overview: Fender's reimagined "reissue" series of instruments in the American Vintage II series are pretty spiff interpretations of a variety of "period" features all rolled into an idealized, retro instrument. If you like old Fenders, these feel and sound very similar to their progenitors.

Tone: It's got the classic P-bass whumpf of sound but with good clarity and balance.

Feel: It's classic Fender with a slim C profile and tight, 7 1/4" radius on the board. The medium-sized frets are very vintage medium in spec and not as tall as some of the more recent models featuring medium/tall wire.

Interesting features: It's got aged-finish clay dots in the board, a classic sunburst finish, and tortoise pickguard. What's not to like? I do enjoy the faithfully retro neck feel, though -- it's not too often you get to enjoy a curvy, tightly-radiused fretboard these days.

Repairs included: It's had a fresh setup and is playing spot-on.
