1948 Martin 0-17T Tenor Guitar

Overview: How about them apples, huh? I love Martin's 0-size tenor guitars with their squashed body, long scale, and velvety sounds. This is an 0-17T and that means solid mahogany throughout, x-braced, and mild-glow-glossy gorgeous. These are ideal guitars for "Celtic" GDAE tuning and that's how we've set this one up at the moment.

Tone: It's got a clean, sweet, mids-focused, and mellow sound. There's enough punch and cut to be heard in a jam and it will suit whatever tuning one desires.

Feel: The neck is medium-heft with a slight V to its rear and the board is flat. I find it nice and quick but it's not like the super-skinny Gibson tenor guitar and tenor banjo necks which might as well be long mandolins!

Interesting features: It's bare-bones in styling but that's what makes it great -- the simple aesthetic will travel anywhere.

Repairs included: Jose gave it a level/dress of the frets and setup and it's playing spot-on.

Condition notes: A previous repairman had fit an old Barcus Berry pickup with jack at the endpin and, while it sounds ok, it does have very light ground hum at volume. The bridge was also lightly-shaved on its top at one point (looks like about 1/32" removed at most). The saddle is low in its slot but there's a little adjustment room left and it's just left the height of summer humidity so it will likely just need to have its action bumped up in winter. There's mild weather-check to the finish here and there throughout and light scuffs/scratches as well, but nothing obvious or major to complain about.

It comes with: It has a not-quite-fitting but decent hard case with it.
