1939 Kalamazoo (Gibson) KG-3/4 Sport Terz Guitar

Hey, it's a Sport! These 3/4-size "terz" guitars are extremely rare. The later (and also quite rare) LG-2 3/4 and B-25 3/4 models borrow heavily from the design of this instrument, too. These are built and braced like a diminutive KG-14 and, while you'd expect them to maybe have a snappy, punchy voice because of that, they're actually a lot mellower than that and tend to have more of an LG-1's woody, chunky sound.

It's got a solid spruce top with ladder bracing, solid mahogany back and sides, a mahogany neck, and Brazilian rosewood fretboard. The original bridge was Brazilian, too, but the replacement one on it is Madagascar.

This one arrived stock and in good structural health but it needed a neck reset, bridge reglue, and fretwork. On the way to recovery, we found that the original bridge had been placed almost 1/4" off of target for proper saddle placement. To remedy this, Ancel made a new, repro-style bridge that's a little wider front-to-back so we could get a proper saddle position in it while also covering the old "footprint" of the original bridge.

These have a short, 22 3/4" or so scale length, and so I suggest using 54w-12 gauges on them rather than the 52w-11 gauges I suggest for most Kalamazoos as this gets the tension up to where the strings don't feel too slack or wishy-washy.
