1961 Epiphone (Gibson) E422T Century Hollowbody Electric Guitar

Overview: Hey! It's an ES-125T. But... it's not! The design for this Gibson-made, Epiphone-variant, ES-125T swaperoo is only slightly different from the normal one in that it's an extra 1/2" wide on the lower bout. It also has the excellent cherry red (subdued) finish and high-contrast pickguard, too, as well as a long, 25 3/8" scale length. This one is mostly original (new tuners and saddle and an extra strap button) and plays and sounds hot-to-trot.

Tone: It's very much got a cleaner/jazzier P90 voice, though the long scale definitely gives it a bit more sustain and snap than a normal ES-125T body-style.

Feel: Yep, it has the magic, early-'60s Gibson neck -- thinner front to back than the '50s ones but with the same 1 11/16" nut width and curvy fretboard. It plays slick and fast.

Interesting features: The long scale, the cherry finish, the white pickguard, and the overall great looks are where it's at. I also like that wider lower bout that gives it more of a '40s Epiphone archtop visual style (small shoulders, big bototm). The P90 pickup and wiring harness are all original.

Repairs included: I reglued a back/neck joint seam, reset the neck, and re-angled the fretboard extension to get it in-plane with the fretboard (this was actually, annoyingly, quite tricky). Ancel then gave it a level/dress of the frets, set it up, and fit repro Gotoh "aged" tuners and a repro Gotoh "aged" bridge top/adjustable saddle. The original (compensated for wound G) rosewood saddle is included, of course. It plays bang-on and is ready to go.

Condition notes: It has replacement tuners, an added strap button on the shoulder, and a replaced bridge top/saddle. The original saddle is included. The finish has weather-check throughout but looks good. There's a few patches of fill on the fretboard at the 15th fret dot and where a 17th fret dot "would" be. The fretboard extension's "wedge" that the fretboard sits on has tiny edges that push-out just a little at the 14th fret/joint, but they're not obvious unless you're looking for them

It comes with: It has a molded hard case I that is a little too deep but works just fine. As a bonus it has all sorts of quirky stickers on it.
