1961 Harmony H165 000-Size Guitar
Overview: The date stamp is more or less illegible but I think it reads 1961 which is about right for the features of this guitar, anyhow. These all-mahogany H165 models are pretty popular in the vintage-lovers community for their woody, strange, mellow voices and this one has that in spades. It's also got friendly looks, too.
Tone: As noted -- woody is the premier adjective, here. It's got a folksy sound that fingerpicks well and, if you're into a more old-timey, thumpy sound, it will flatpick nicely for you, too.
Feel: The neck is a pretty generous medium-full C and so if you don't like fatter shoulders you're not going to bond with this guy. It has the typical 10" radius to the board for Harmony, though, so it's sort-of a Gibsonesque feel.
Interesting features: It has a replaced bridge and pickguard but they look sharp on it. Also, despite having some wear and tear, the finish has a nice "glow" to it that's welcoming.
Repairs included: I gave it a neck reset (glued and bolted) and Jose gave it a level/dress of the frets, fit a new bridge (the original was damaged) and saddle, fit a replacement pickguard of the same shape and location, and set it all up. It plays spot-on and is ready to go.
