1920s Regal Spruce/Birch Size 5 Tenor Guitar
This sweetheart Regal tenor got scooped-up rather quickly and so I didn't have time to do a video for it. It's the most common version of this model (spruce over birch) and this one probably dates to the mid '20s considering its built style and features. These were very popular instruments and they remained relatively unchanged in design and styling for almost 20 years of production.
Work on this included a neck reset, fret level/dress, side dots, replacement tuners, some brace and crack repairs, and setup stuff. It plays spot-on and has a wide, clean, sweet, but punchy and loud voice. It's hard to describe how impressively powerful these instruments are until you've actually got one in your lap.
As per the usual, it's got a solid spruce top and solid birch back and sides. The neck is poplar and the fretboard and bridge are ebonized maple. It's ladder-braced and very light on the bracing.
