1940s Gibson L-50 Carved-Top Lefty-Mod Archtop Guitar

Our buddy Mike Brown brought this poor old Gibson L-50 into the shop after it had some seriously wonky repairs done at another shop. It went through a lot of surgery, for sure, with a ton of epoxy-like gobs covering all sorts of crack repairs on the top and back. I understand that the repairman had to refit the original back on the guitar after it had been off of it for who-knowshow-long, but I've seen the before and after pictures and... suffice to say, I don't speak ill of anyone in the field for the most part as I can't comment on what I wasn't doing myself, but this was not a good job...

Ancel painstakingly removed all of that funk (over 2 days) and cleaned it up as best as he could. Then he leveled/dressed the frets, made a brand-new rosewood (lefty) bridge-topper, and set it all up. It's now a solid player with a good, chunky sound.

Of note is the later, cool Bigsby (aluminum) bridge base, rosewood trapeze (which suggests wartime manufacture, considering metal savings? ...it doesn't have a factory order number inside), and general wear and tear.
