1967 Hagstrom Viking II Deluxe Hollowbody Electric Guitar
Overview: This is the second black Viking II I've had through from this era. These are pretty rare birds so it's nice to get another one in through the shop. This one arrived in pretty good order but Jose did need to dial it in a bunch to get it playing its best. It's lightweight, has a very '60s, almost aggressively-jangle sound, and -- as you might know if you've played old Hagstroms -- one of the thinnest, fastest necks ever made. They're very stable necks as well.
Tone: It's bright, clean, and a bit on the jangle side, though the hollowbody build gives them a bit more of a mellow, rounder overall attack compared to when these same pickups are in solidbody instruments..
Feel: The neck is super-thin and has a narrower nut. These play like Fender necks from the time, more or less, but have lower frets a shallower front/back profile. They're fast but if you like any chunk to your neck at all, steer clear.
Interesting features: Well, being a copycat of a Coronado, there are all sorts of cool things going on -- fancy trim, big block inlays, matching paint on the headstock and neck, gold hardware, cool knobs, bound f-holes, you name it. It's a classy guitar in the way you might expect a guitar like this to show up in the background of a James Bond film...
Repairs included: Jose gave it a level/dress of the frets, tweaked the bridge, did a bunch of cleaning, and set it all up. While the original bridge leaves much to be desired as far as pure functionality goes (though it's cool as heck), it's playing spot-on and ready to roll.

Condition notes: It's clean throughout save for mild-medium uswear/light scritchy-scratch here and there. The finish also has a few long/bigger finish cracks in it on the top and back -- which I've taken a photo of in glare so you can understand. It's not obvious until you've got lights bouncing around on the gloss. These also came from the factory with lower/smaller frets and that's how they feel now, too. If you prefer a modern feel (not "fretless wonder" feel), you may want to have us refret with modern medium or the like. I don't mind it because slides feel so quick and easy but others might.
It comes with: I think it's got a gigbag hanging-out in the case storage.
