2010s Jupiter Creek Electric Baritone Ukulele

Overview: I remember when these were hot on the uke forums back in the day! These were made in Australia and, unfortunately, the maker passed-away and so the brand is no longer made. Anyhow, it's a folksily-made, no-frills, fun little beastie. The mini-Les-Paul look is neat and it has a good sound and workmanly feel.

Tone: It's got a pretty hot flat-poles humbucker pickup that I've cranked-down a bit to keep it a little cleaner-sounding. There's a series/parallel mini-switch that gives you additional tonal control -- especially useful if you want to use your switch to basically give you a nice "gain boost" for lead work. It sounds... like a mini-Paul, of course! -- or in that realm.

Feel: It has a medium-heft, D-shaped neck profile and a flat board. The string spacing is generous which is nice for all of those closed-position chords up and down the neck.

Interesting features: I like the Gibson-style knobs and the series/parallel switch is very useful as it give you some more tonal mileage out of the single pickup.

Repairs included: Sarah gave it a level/dress of the frets and I set it up and adjusted it. It's playing spot-on.

Jupiter Creek was a one-man operation by the name of Rob Dick, who sadly passed away in 2012. He made a lot of fun, unique, affordable instruments!
