2020s Cordoba 40-R Classical Guitar

Overview: This refined-looking classical is a more-recent Cordoba model, made in Spain, and with good ingredients. It has a solid spruce top but ply rosewood back and sides. The important bit is the top and, tonally, this one wins-out. It handles like your average modern classical with a medium-heft neck and wide nut, but it's plenty comfortable to play for a longer period. I picked a bit on all the classicals in the shop the other night and I was surprised at how endearing and straightforward this one sounds.

Tone: It's elegant and pretty powerful with a nice, round, full, punch when you dig-in a little harder.

Interesting features: The wood binding with contrasting lines above and below is quite attractive. The rosette also looks nice and it has a very classic, retro headstock shape.

Repairs included: It's had a little bridge/saddle slot shave and a setup. It's ready to go and playing spot-on.

Condition notes: While there may be a chance small scratch or scuff here or there that I've missed, I think it honestly looks like a new/shopworn guitar. That said, we did modify the saddle slot area to allow for more adjustment room (we shaved the top of the slot area a bit so a wider range of saddle heights could be used). Its one "weak spot" is that it had some sort of pickup installed and there's an oversize endpin at the endblock fit into the 1/2" hole that used to have a jack in it.

It comes with: It's got a nice hard case.
