1890s Bruno (Bay State/Haynes) Parlor Guitar

This beaut is a late-1800s Bruno-branded guitar that was built by Haynes in Boston (of Bay State fame). It's simple, elegant, and perfectly-sized to hang-out with a player on a couch or tucked-in at table, going through their song or music notes.

It's solid spruce over Brazilian rosewood and the back and sides look glorious. Work included a neck reset, fret level/dress, swapping to a properly-located and properly-radiused saddle, and setup work. I still need to go back and make a taller saddle, however, as the action actually lowered a hair after setup.

Many people string these with extra light steel but they were intended for gut when made. Modern classical guitar strings are both healthier and better-sounding on such a small box -- so heed the makers' intent and have fun doing something different!
