1930s Regal Archtop Tenor Guitar

Overview: This is the third or fourth cool old Regal archtop tenor guitar I've worked on with this Kalamazoo KG-11 sort-of shape to it. This is the most downmarket of them in terms of materials (most are spruce over mahogany with x-bracing) but looks killer in its tuxedo refinish job. Someone had done a bunch of work before it arrived here and it was playing decently when it arrived but it needed a little extra finessing to get it to play spot-on.

Interesting features: Clearly, the looks are the selling-point here. It also has a good, choppy, bright, cutting voice to it as well.

Repairs included: It's had a level/dress of the frets, side dots added, cleaning, and setup work done. Sarah did the job and it's playing spot-on and ready to go.

Condition notes: While in good order overall, a lot has been done to this instrument. It's entirely refinished (or at least resprayed over original black), has extra pearl added at the headstock and in the fretboard, and the pickguard has been painted a bit. The bridge looks like an old Framus or Hofner replacement type. The tailpiece and tuners look original, however. Despite the (older) refinish, it has some mild wear and tear throughout from use. It's looking nice and lived-in a bit. There is a screw that was added at the end of the fretboard extension which helps hold the extension level with the rest of the fretboard (these unreinforced extensions tend to curl up as they age) and, while that's something I do myself on instruments like this, this work was done by someone else! Practical minds...

It comes with: It's got a newer, nice hard case.
