2014 National Style 1 Tricone Resonator guitar
This is a recent tricone that a customer bought, shipped here, had me setup, and then picked-up. It's in great shape, sounds a treat, and looks it, too. How can you not love the deco details on a tricone body?
I've included a few shots from inside the body for reference as to how I secure the cones and T-bridge so that they don't move-around on the player (for, example, during string changes or bumping-around in a car) and upset intonation adjustments at the bridge.
I'm sure there will be folks who might complain about the tiny weight of the aluminum tape on their cones somehow hurting tone, but the reality is that I've worked on so many resonators that bounce-around in the back of cars all the time on their way to and from gigs and jam sessions that I know this is the best way that I've found to keep everything in secure alignment in there.
One neat note on this particular guitar is that someone made a compensated ebony saddle that's been glued to the top of the original maple one. It's a nice idea for getting something not made exactly to spec (I don't know what resonators are built spot-on) to behave.
