1974 Yamaha SX-80 Doublecut Electric Guitar
Overview: What is this my friends? Pure fun of course! Whether you see it as a rowdy rocker with metal aspirations or a Batman-influenced doublecut, it's great either way. It has fast neck, is on the lighter-weight side for its build type, and is eye-catching in the extreme. In some ways it reminds me a little of the look of old mandolin-family instruments from the '20s, though mixed with a heavy dose of '70s Yamaha rocker attitude and a bit of that Danelectro "bellzouki" look.
Interesting features: While it's very rock, it also sports a pair of single coil pickups rather than humbuckers. This gives it a bit of a stand-out sound for its era -- crisp and clean with some good bite -- to match its aesthetics. Someone stuck Guild knobs in place of the (presumably missing) originals, though it otherwise looks original throughout save the tuners. Its serial number (stamped at the end of the fretboard, 36134) dates it to 1974.
Repairs included: Sarah gave it a level/dress of the frets, restring, and setup as I recall. It's playing spot-on and is ready to go!

Condition notes: It's definitely been around the block -- there are scuffs, scratches, nicks, dings, and scrapes here and there all over the instrument. The finish clearcoat has discolored and so there's yellowing at all the binding. The finish appears to have been a semi-gloss look to begin with but it has aging that's made it satin in most areas and slightly milky in the clearcoat here and there. As noted, the Guild knobs are unoriginal. I'm not sure if the Grover tuners are unoriginal but I would guess so.
It comes with: Sorry, no case.
