1985 Alvarez-Yairi DY-76 Dreadnought 12-String Guitar

Overview: This is a made-in-Japan Alvarez-Yairi and it takes its build and styling cues from fancier Martin 12-string dreadnoughts from the time. It's built light and sounds fantastic -- full, clean, warm, and with good definition. While it's got some average wear and tear from use, it looks spiffy overall and, after repairs, is a solid player.

Interesting features: The trim on this one is nice, with Martin 28-style looks overall but with some interesting inlay in the fretboard. The neck is surprisingly-fast for the time and it has a good, quick feel. It has a full set of covered, Rotomatic-style tuners.

Repairs included: Jose gave this guitar a level/dress of the frets, fully-compensated the original bone saddle, and set it all up. It's playing spot-on and ready to serve.

Condition notes: There's minor weather-check here and there throughout the finish. There are also light scratches and usewear throughout. Someone fit and then removed a strap button from the side of the neck and so there's a filled hole there. Some of the bridge pins may be older replacements. The string spacing at the nut in each course is rather tight so folks who pick really hard might find the close pairings of strings a little fussier than traditional 12-strings with wider spacing. I rather like it -- it reminds me of the fast feel that Rickenbacker 12s have (albeit the nut width and spacing is a lot wider than Ricks, but the pairs are spaced about the same).

It comes with: It's got a good hard case.
