1920s Pfretzschner Strad-Copy 4/4 Violin
Overview: I'm not sure what age this Pfretzschner dates from exactly, though I guesstimate it at about 1930. It has the older-style label in the soundhole and I don't see this type on the postwar models. It's a nicely-made instrument and German in origin, with close-grained spruce for the top and pretty, mildly-flamed maple for the back and sides. It has a clean and clear voice that gets decently "husky" when driven by a fiddler.
Interesting features: The fingerboard appears to be ebony and during planing/leveling a sapwood streak popped-out that we left undyed. It gives it a nice "skunk stripe" appearance.
Repairs included: Andy gave it a neck reset, fingerboard reglue, fingerboard plane, seam repairs, a top crack repair (center seam under tailpiece), fit a new bridge, fit a fine-tuners tailpiece, fit a replacement chinrest, adjusted the pegs, and set it up. It's ready to go with a string height between "classical" and "fiddler's low."

Condition notes: It has some wear and tear that's mostly confined to the edges of the instrument with minor wear to the top and then a big patch of rubbing/wear on the center of the back. There are two pinholes at the rear of the heel from an older repair. The sides have some areas of disturbed finish.
It comes with: It has an unoriginal, earlier case that comes with it.
