1963/2010s Fender/Squier Partscaster Jazzmaster Electric Guitar
Overview: This partscaster is a complete oddball. I was told the body is a refinished '63 Jazzmaster body and it very well likely is -- though the refinish job is gloppy, textured, translucent red. I buffed it out a bit to give it more of an "aged leather" feel and look and that was a big improvement. It looks more intentional, now. The rest of the instrument is a mix of pieces -- a recent Squier Stratocaster ("vintage style") neck, fresh wiring harness, Fender Japan (I believe) whammy/tailpiece, standard modern Jazzmaster-style bridge, and then an aftermarket pickguard cut for soapbar P90s. I've fit some very choice and almost-new (used lightly and bought in late 2024) TV Jones Power'Tron (PAF-sounding) humbuckers in P90 casings and they have that sound to a T.
Interesting features: It's a nice-playing, good-looking, workhorse of a guitar that, with its pickup configuration, can actually do jazz nicely if you dial in your amp for it. It will also do straight-up rock with aplomb and anything in-between. TV Jones pickups are definitely special sauce! If you've played an early-'70s Fender you know what this neck profile feels like -- it's quick and easy -- and the contrasting mint over red with the maple neck is eye-catching. A simple 3-way switch and volume/tone harness makes the control layout easy and I've used a pair of Gibson-style knobs that fit right in with the P90s.
Repairs included: I buffed the refinish of the body a bit, made a new wiring harness and fit the pickups, fixed some of the shielding of the body cavity that someone had installed a bit incorrectly, "locked" the bridge motion via adding extra ferrules (this helps keep it in tune when using the whammy), and set it all up. It's a fast player and is ready to roll.

Condition notes: Obviously, the body is refinished and a little funky at that, but endearing. It's a partscaster so everything is mismatched. The neck has been "speed-necked" with finish removed from the back of it and then clearcoated so it plays fast and more like a bare-wood instrument. The body cavity has a ton of copper tape fit for shielding and the cavity was expanded a little as well around the pickups. There are some small crack/seam things going on near the endpin area on the rear but they're solid and not moving at all.
It comes with: Sorry, no case.
