1970s Paramount (Harmony) 12-String 000-Size Guitar
Overview: This one is peculiar! It's a Harmony-made instrument from the early-to-mid '70s and features the usual H1203-style Sovereign body shape but with a 14-fret, 12-string neck and ply mahogany back and sides rather than solid. It originally had a pin-bridge setup when it arrived but one glance at the ladder bracing and poor placement of the saddle suggested we change that. During repair, we converted it over to a tailpiece load with a fully-compensated rosewood saddle fit, instead. This turns it into something like a smaller, more-nimble, but still bluesy-jangly-sounding sibling of the Harmony H1270 Sovereign jumbo 12-string.
Interesting features: The neck is fairly quick for a Harmony product and it's easy to move about on it. The guitar itself is on the quite-clean side, finish-wise, and it has a good look. The monstrous headstock reminds me of Gibson 12-strings from the '60s, too. I like the diamond markers in the fretboard and the low-brow looks of the whole thing -- it suits the punchy, country-blues personality this one has.
Repairs included: I gave it a neck reset, Sarah leveled and dressed the frets, and Jose recut the saddle slot wide to allow for a properly-placed, fully-compensated saddle (and he made that, too), filled the bridge pinholes, fit a parts-bin 12-string tailpiece, and set it all up. It's playing bang-on and ready for service.
