1971 Gibson ES-345 TD Semihollow Electric Guitar

Overview: Serial numbers for this era of Gibson are a little vague but I'm guesstimating this to be a '71 rather than a '72. A kind comment from someone in Reverb-land told me that the orange label in the f-hole means that it's a late '69 or '70, however. My friend Tim has owned this for at least the last 20+ years and it has been a good, reliable, stage workhorse for him. He's almost entirely focused on acoustic music these days, though, so it's time for it to be rehomed! It's a lovely 345, with a lived-in look and feel and the subdued, walnut-colored finish is a perfect match to its jazzier sound.

Interesting features: It's still got its original pickups and original wiring harness, but someone a while back converted its output to mono. The original harness darkens the tone overall a bit, giving the guitar a good, mellower character that really suits the bright, big-sounding Fender amps Tim used this with for ages. If you're after a brighter, more 335-sounding voice, I'd be happy to swap harnesses if desired, though it's also nice to have this guy with all of its guts intact!

Repairs included: Jose gave the guitar a level/dress of the frets and a good setup and it's ready to go and playing spot-on.

Condition notes: The guitar appears original with the exception of the newer Kluson Revolution tuners, the nut, an older refret, a replacement Allparts pickguard, and the mono conversion of the output jack. There's weather-checking throughout the finish and also small scratches, nicks, and dings here and there. There's a patch of flaked-off finish on the back, a ton of wear to the plating on all the hardware, and the back of the neck has a ton of divoted texutre to it (with soft edges) from where clearcoat finish had flaked-off bit by bit over the years. If you don't like texture to the back of the neck (I do!), then keep walking...

It comes with: It has a nice newer, TKL case.
