2000s Unmarked American Western Theme 000-Size Guitar

Overview: This guitar is unfortunately unmarked and I have not been able to track-down a builder. Considering the style of build, I'm guessing this might have been a "guitar building course special" and made by a skilled student. It has the look of that style of box in some of its features (the slightly clunky rosette and not-quite-perfectly-fit bolted neck joint). That said, it's a good-quality box and sounds excellent while at the same time being a feast for the eyes. Dimensionally, it's a pretty typical OM-style guitar, but its features vary widely from a usual Martin-style mold.

Interesting features: First-off, it has a solid cedar top over solid mahogany back and sides. This sonic profile reminds me a lot of Tacoma guitars, though this one is built lighter and sounds bigger because of that. Next-up -- it's western-theme as heck! There's a buffalo skull with feathers inlaid in the headstock, an arrowhead-style truss rod cover installed, a coyote howling at the moon at the 3rd fret, a peace pipe at the 7th, and a "stepped" bridge shape that recalls New Mexico roadside attractions. The soundhole rosette echoes such design elements, too. The neck is slim and comfortable, it's well-balanced, and it's a looker to boot.

Repairs included: Ancel gave this one a level/dress of the frets, cleaning, and setup work. It's playing bang-on and ready to serve.

Condition notes: There's plenty of pickwear at the soundhole and some dings and scratches on the top as well. There's a bit of weather-check in the finish here and there and some more bumps, scratches, and dings throughout the rest of the guitar. It's nice to see a piece like this obviously loved and used. There's a little cross-grain finish crack on the back -- near the heel -- as well.

It comes with: Sorry, no case.
