1930s German Strad-Copy 4/4 Violin
Overview: Friend of the shop, Dan, is always needing to trade this and that to pay for this and that, and that's how this old German violin came back into the shop's graces and for sale. Andy had done some work on it in the past and it was still playing nicely when it arrived back and only needed minor tweaks to its setup.
Interesting features: It's unmarked save for a bogus label that states it's a Strad-copy and it's likely a German-made import from the 1920s or 1930s. It's got a good, even sound with a bit of huskiness and the build is decent but it's definitely got a "loved-in" look about it. The tailpiece is a Wittner-style one with fine tuners.
Repairs included: I don't remember what's our shop work and what was done by others, but over time it looks like it's had several top crack repairs (with cleats) done, the seams have been glued and reglued several times (and are all good to go), and it has had its board leveled/planed in the past. It has a replacement bone nut (neat) and is setup with a medium-height bridge that's a little stocky but serviceable. The back center-seam looks like it was reglued a long time ago. It's playing quick and easy and it's ready to roll.

Condition notes: There are a few, tight, repaired top hairline cracks in the under-tailpiece area. There's lots of wear and tear to the finish throughout. The back/side seams are not all perfectly aligned after old reglue jobs but they're holding pat. The tailpiece, chinrest, bridge, and pegs are all unoriginal but older. There's a hole patched on the back of the heel that hides pinned reinforcement of the neck joint.
It comes with: I will include some sort of case.
