1950s Regal Archtop Tenor Guitar

Overview: This Regal archtop was made in the last days of the company. Regal closed its doors in '53 and this one has definitely made either in the late '40s or early '50s. It has the logo and features for such a build. It arrived pretty clean visually but needing structural work to bring it in line to be a satisfying player. To that end, the work is all done and it's now playing swell. It has a chimey, midsy sound to it that works beautifully for standard CGDA tuning, though I imagine DGBE might be a great fit, too

Interesting features: The body appears to be all ply birch, though I'm not 100% sure on that. It's lightly-built and, as a result, has pretty good volume. Though the "binding" and "purfling" is painted-on, it gives a snazzy look against the natural-to-redburst finish style. The bridge and fretboard are actual rosewood and of the type that Regal tended to use -- a lighter-colored, medium-brown source that looks killer on these old boxes.

Repairs included: Ancel and I worked on it together -- I gave it a neck reset and a little cosmetic work here and there and he leveled/dressed the frets, reglued some back-brace ends, cleaned it up and set it up. I think we also added side dots, too. It's playing spot-on, has plenty of adjustment room at the bridge, and is ready to go.
