1960s Rythmline 2-Point Electric Mandolin

Overview: This is a Japanese take on an old Kay Kraft, 2-point body design. It's an arched, hollowbody instrument but has a bolt-on neck. It has a wider nut width so anyone who likes generous spacing up there will be at home on this one. Most Japanese electric mandolins from the time are awful to play for a variety of reasons, but this one's spruced-up and kicking and plays like a gem.

Interesting features: The original pickup had coil damage so I removed it in favor of an older Seymour Duncan mini-humbucker. It sounds excellent, of course, and keeps hum to a minimum. The two-point body is also eye-catching and the bolt-on neck makes later action adjustments easy. The wiring harness and knobs are also all replacements and so work as intended, unlike the terrible original harness this had. If you're slum-jazzing it or kicking your electric mandolin into a rawk atmosphere, this might be the ticket!

Repairs included: Sarah gave it a level/dress of the frets, fit the bridge, and set it up. I rewired it and installed the replacement pickup. It's playing spot-on and ready to go. We've had it strung-up for almost a month now and it hasn't had any action changes, which is nice to see on a bolt-on, cheaper hollowbody instrument from the time -- it confirms that it's good and stable.

It comes with: It's got a good hard (or foam-hard) case.
