1973 Guild D-25 Dreadnought Guitar

Overview: I can't even remember how many D-25s have graced our doors! I like this model -- especially in this version, with the mahogany top. They make great stage and muck-about guitars at campfires and whatnot because they're built tough and will keep on ticking under pressure from a lazy owner. This one arrived in decent shape but it did need the usual work -- which is done -- and now it's up to snuff again. These mahogany-top guys have a woody, punchy sort-of sound that works best, I think, as a mids-forward, underpinning-with-chords sort-of guitar.

Interesting features: As noted, it has a solid mahogany top and sides over a ply mahogany back. It's x-braced, has the typical dreadnought sizing, and the usual long-scale Guild thing going-on. I love the big old "country western" Guild pickguard look against that orange-brown finish, too. A lot of these get a cherry-red, faux-Gibson-like finish over the mahogany, but this orange-brown, somewhat-natural color is a little more practical for most folks to rock.

Repairs included: It's had a neck reset, fret level/dress, new bone saddle fit, and setup work done. I think this was a mix of myself, Jose, and Sarah at the bench. It's playing spot-on, has plenty of saddle height, and is ready to go.

Condition notes: The endpin was drilled-out larger for a jack at some point and that's been filled and a strap button put in its place. There are small scuffs, nicks, dings, and scratches throughout the finish and also some weather-checking to the finish, but overall it's a good looker for its years. There are no cracks.

It comes with: This has a gigbag.
