1991 OMI Dobro Hound Dog Model 10 Roundneck Resonator Guitar

Overview: OMI-made Dobros are workhorse instruments -- especially after they've been dialed-in -- and have an easy, woody, honky tone and a traditional body shape in the 00 size that's comfy in the lap. This one is very typical for the brand an of a roundneck variety. We've set it up as a fingerpicker/flatpicker but there's no reason it can't be tweaked for a slide player (the neck angle on these is adjustable via shims and a dowel).

Interesting features: The ply maple body has a nice, iced-tea-sunburst finish. It's got some bumps and bruises but overall the look is nice. The maple fretboard gives it a bit of a "Tele-style" look of countrified ready but the lines on the body are very traditional. I've found the necks on these OMI Dobros to be quite stable and practical, too, so their setups don't tend to drift around much (like, you know, modern import resonators).

Repairs included: The neck got an angle adjustment, the saddles have been tweaked a bit for height and to give proper compensation, and it got a level/dress of the frets, cone seating/adjusting, and a good setup. It's playing spot-on and ready to go. Sarah and I collaborated on the work.

Condition notes: It has some scuffs, scratches, and spots of finish loss on the edges, but overall it's in good order. There's a bigger nick/scratch on the back of the neck in the middle (pictured) as well. The guitar itself is original throughout, though we did have to recut the cone's outside edge "lip" a bit to get the bridge to sit in the right place... something I have to do on almost every Dobro and/or resonator guitar a little bit as the factories never seem to get placement correct.

It comes with: This guy has a decent case.
