1992 Martin HD-28 Cedar Top Dreadnought Guitar

Overview: A cedar-topped HD-28? Who knew? This is the first time I'd seen one. It's a killer guitar, too, with a wide sound. It's been kept well and, while there's some usewear, overall it's in good shape and has an elegant look. The cedar top gives it a warmer glow on the top that is unusual for Martins until they age-in for a good, long while.

Interesting features: Obviously -- the cedar top -- which contributes to the warm, full, sound. It gives even more of a mids-scoop, bass-heavy tone compared to spruce, though, which may not be fore everyone but it would be a great thing for a rhythm player who likes to hold-down the bottom-end. The (presumably Grover) tuners that would have been on this when it was made are also replaced with much-nicer, more vintage-looking, Waverlies.

Repairs included: This guy just needed a level/dress, setup, and minor adjustments and Jose gave it the love it needed. It's playing spot-on and ready to go!

Condition notes: It's in good overall shape but does have a few light scuffs on the side near the endpin (I could remove these but it would dull the finish in that area just a hair) and some small dings on the top here and there (cedar is awfully soft and dents easily). There's some mild wear on the back of the neck and edge-wear at the headstock. The bridge was probably reglued at some point. There's a small gap in the back binding -- likely from the binding having shrunk, clipped, and reglued (a common Martin thing). I can fill the gap if desired on the house but it's not a worry. A strap button was added at the heel. There's mild weather-check here and there in the finish as well.

It comes with: It's got a good hard case.
