2002 Alvarez AJ60S Jumbo 12-String Guitar
Overview: This is a surprisingly-excellent 12-string, with a solid spruce top over ply flamed maple back and sides. It's a good match for many old Guild 12-strings that we've had through the shop and has a good, quick feel and arrived here almost setup on-the-dot, though a few tweaks were needed. The design is well-thought-out, it's attractive, and it has a good, balanced sound with plenty of volume even with the very-light strings we've got on it.
Interesting features: It has a factory-fit undersaddle pickup installed, good sealed tuners, and the figured maple used throughout the back and sides is eye-catching. The jumbo body shape gives a good roundness to the sound as well.
Repairs included: The frets were only very-lightly-worn so I skipped a level/dress job. I restrung it, fully-compensated the saddle, and then set it up. I also added ramping for the strings at the bridge to keep good back-angle on the saddle, especially from the rear-deck strings. It's playing spot-on and ready to serve.
