1920s Washburn Mahogany Soprano Ukulele

Overview: This is a genuine, Lyon & Healy-made Washburn uke with the patent friction pegs, raised-rosette soundhole ring, and smile bridge. It's roughly along the lines of a Martin Style 0 in intent, but the build is stiffer overall and so it sounds a little chimier and more "Hawaiian" than the sweeter-voiced Martin palette.

Interesting features: As noted, it has the cool "raised ring" rosette and the smile bridge -- both things you pretty much only see on Washburn instruments from the time. It has a very faded ink stamp serialization at the neckblock, but suffice to say it dates to the early-to-mid 1920s based just on features. It's original throughout, too, and in good order.

Repairs included: The neck had been reset in the past. Sarah gave it a level/dress of the frets and I built-out the saddle a little bit to the front of the bridge to improve intonation (the original saddle spot was 1/16" too far to the rear). It's playing great and ready to go.
