1930s Oahu Squareneck Mahogany Parlor Guitar

Overview: I used to buy/fix/sell these old Oahu squareneck guitars all the time "back in the day." This one is a customer's instrument that we worked-on some time back, but it's come in for resale after the owner switched-over to lap steel. It's mahogany throughout, ladder-braced, and has a nice, woody, balanced sound. It's, of course, suited really well to Hawaiian as well as bluesy sounds. It does that sing-song thing to a T.

Interesting features: It's got pretty mahogany throughout the body and a nice, dark sunburst look. We installed a K&K acoustic pickup in it at some point so jacking-in at a jam or gig is easy-peasy.

Repairs included: There were a number of smaller hairline cracks repaired on the top and back. It (previously) got a replacement bridge (not surprising as many of these had bolted-on aluminum ones). We fit a K&K pickup at some point, too. It's ready to go.

Condition notes: It has a replaced bridge (not by us) and some repaired hairline cracks on both the top and back (done by us). It also got a K&K acoustic pickup installed (yip)! There are scratches, scuffs, and small dings here and there in the finish but it looks nice at a glance. It's original save for the pickup and the bridge+saddle. The new bridge has a slanted saddle meant for fretted playing, which means intonation is just slightly flat on the bass side if you don't "listen" for the notes and angle the bar just slightly as you shift up the neck. In practice, if you're used to playing these guys, there's no real downside to this as you'll be adjusting for intonation naturally...

It comes with: Sorry, no case.
